  1. If you are on FMLA and/or CFRA, your position is not exempt from the layoff process. Employees on FMLA and/or CFRA are subject to the same seniority rules as other employees for purposes of layoff. If you held permanent status in other classes, then you may have the opportunity to demote to a former class in the department.

  2. If your position is targeted for layoff and you are on an approved LOA, your position would still be considered for layoff. You are subject to the same seniority rules as other employees for purposes of layoff. If you held permanent status in other classes, then you may have the opportunity to demote to a former class in the department.
